From St Aloysius School to St Aloysius Catholic College
St Aloysius School, founded by the Sisters of Charity, was established in 1960 in Roslyn Avenue, Kingston Beach, and from that date until 2001 was conducted by the Sisters. The first lay Principal was appointed in 2002. At first a Catholic primary school catering for Kindergarten to Year 6 students, St Aloysius grew over the years on the Kingston Campus and in 2007 the enrolment was over 460 students.
The Archbishop of Hobart, Adrian Doyle, gave his approval early in 2007 to extend the educational program to include Years 7 to 10 and for St Aloysius School to become St Aloysius Catholic College. The introduction of a Middle School facility at Huntingfield from 2009 to cater for Years 6 to 8 students will enhance the educational outcomes for the College community.
